Global Gathering of Tech-Savvy Learners

International symposium to feature “power users” of information and communication technology

The first global gathering of “power users” of information and communication technology—young people who have become self-directed learners, mastering a range of technology tools and software—will be convening in San Jose, Costa Rica, Aug. 8-10, 2005. The conference will also be concurrently available online.

Sponsored by EDC and the United Nations Fund for International Partnerships (UNFIP), the symposium is part of EDC's Education, Employment, and Community (EEC) initiative to learn more about these "power users" and how they will affect the wider society as they move through our social systems.

This first Power Users of Information and Communication Technology International Symposium is designed for researchers, young users, educational product developers, business and government specialists, and others. It will include policy sessions on education, the economy, and sustainable development; seminars on current research; an introduction to the work of the Global Research Network; and networking opportunities with information technology industry experts.
