Caroline Parker
Project Director
Caroline Parker has worked at Education Development Center, Inc. since 2000. She is Project Director of the Task Module Assessment Project, which focuses on improving access to large-scale assessments for students with disabilities through both improved test design and ongoing professional development. She serves as methodological consultant on diverse research projects, including technology use among youth in developing countries, technology and diversity, and the Power Users of Technology Initiative. Dr. Parker’s research focuses on equity and access to education for poor youth in Latin America. She recently completed a study of Nicaraguan youth, examining why they persist in attending poorly resourced secondary schools despite the challenges they face. Her work focuses on the interdependencies between individual agency and structural conditions. Before moving to the Boston area, Dr. Parker lived in Nicaragua for thirteen years, working as a human rights observer, journalist, translator and educator.
